Short-term rental in Haryana

In Haryana, short-term rental demand is almost entirely a Gurugram story. The city's office towers, consulting firms and multinational headquarters bring a constant flow of professionals on assignments of a few days to a few months, and many of them would rather have a furnished apartment with a kitchen than a hotel room. Golf Course Road, Cyber City, Sohna Road and the sectors along the expressway see the most interest.

A work-driven market

Weekday occupancy matters more here than weekends, and the calendar follows the corporate year rather than holidays. Guests include consultants, expatriates between leases, families relocating to the NCR and relatives in town for weddings. They expect reliable Wi-Fi, a workspace, power backup, secure parking and a smooth self check-in. Serviced one- and two-bedroom apartments in gated societies form the bulk of the supply, with some independent floors in older sectors.

Rules to know

The state framework is the Haryana Home Stay Scheme, 2021, run by the Department of Tourism. It is designed for owner-occupied homes: the owner or a family member must physically live in the same house, rented or leased properties are not eligible, and registration is renewed every five years. Establishments where the owner does not reside on the property fall outside the scheme.

That leaves a grey zone for vacant apartments let to corporate guests, which the scheme does not address. Before listing one, owners should check the position with the Haryana Department of Tourism and their housing society, and we would rather confirm that with you than guess.
