Our advice for Anjuna
A name every traveller already knows
Anjuna carries a reputation that predates most of Goa's tourism: the hippie beach of the 1960s and 70s, the rocky shoreline, the Wednesday flea market that still fills its grounds in season, and the shacks where evenings turn into long nights. That fame is an asset for an owner, because guests search for Anjuna by name. It is also a responsibility, because they arrive with strong expectations of atmosphere, and the village today is a mix of old Goan wards such as Mazal Waddo, newer villa clusters, guesthouses and busy commercial stretches around Starco junction and the road towards Mapusa.
The guests you will actually meet
Anjuna attracts a wider mix than its neighbours. Young domestic travellers on long weekends, backpackers from abroad, digital nomads who stay for a month or more, and European regulars who have been coming for decades all book here. That variety makes the location resilient, but it means the listing has to say plainly who it is for.
Our practical recommendations
- A 1BHK or 2BHK flat in a gated complex suits solo travellers and couples; ask about the society's position on short stays before signing anything.
- An independent house or villa with a small pool suits groups and families, but budget for a caretaker and regular pool servicing.
- Workspace matters: a proper desk, a good chair and a wired or mesh Wi-Fi setup are what keep monthly guests coming back.
- Two-wheeler parking is essential; most guests rent scooters.
- Keep a power backup and a water storage tank sized for a full house.
Handle with care
Anjuna's lanes are narrow, and the flea-market day and peak-season weekends bring traffic and noise close to many homes. Make it clear in the description how far the property is from the busiest points, so no guest feels misled. Monsoon months, June to September, are quieter and wetter; salt air and humidity also shorten the life of appliances and fittings near the sea, so plan replacements in your budget. And because foreign guests are common here, remember that their stay must be reported through Form C (now called Form III), which we handle as part of our routine check-in process.
