Our advice for Jaipur

Jaipur works across the whole year better than most Rajasthani destinations because its guests are so varied. The Pink City sits on the Golden Triangle, hosts large weddings, runs conferences and exhibitions, and in January welcomes the Jaipur Literature Festival. An owner who understands these rhythms can keep a calendar balanced between leisure and business.

Picking a neighbourhood

Inside and around the walled city — near Hawa Mahal, City Palace and the bazaars of Johari and Bapu Bazaar — guests get atmosphere but traffic and tight parking. C-Scheme, Bani Park and Civil Lines offer central, leafy addresses with easier access, popular with families and couples. Malviya Nagar and the Jawahar Circle area are convenient for the airport at Sanganer, while Vaishali Nagar and Mansarovar are residential districts that suit long stays. For Amber Fort and Nahargarh sunsets, the road towards Amer attracts guests who want a quieter, scenic base.

Designing for Jaipur guests

• Local craft is a genuine advantage: block-printed textiles, blue pottery and carved wood give a listing character without a large budget.
• A terrace with seating is used almost every evening in the cool season.
• Serious cooling and power backup are non-negotiable for the heat from April to June.
• Larger homes of three or four bedrooms suit wedding parties and multi-generation families.
• Offer secure parking — many travellers do the Rajasthan circuit by car with a driver, and need a place for the driver to rest.

Rhythm of the year

The busiest period runs from October to March, boosted by festivals such as Diwali, the kite-flying of Makar Sankranti and the literature festival. The summer is slower; monsoon brings a green, lower-priced season that appeals to domestic weekenders from Delhi. Adjust minimum stays and pricing by season rather than keeping one rule all year.

Regulation

Rajasthan Tourism introduced the Rajasthan Homestay (Paying Guest House) Scheme in 2026. Read its conditions on owner residence, number of rooms and registration before listing, as operating outside it may create problems with authorities or with your building. Apartment owners should also check their society rules.
